The Full Story

1000 Cranes Press

When my mother immigrated from Korea to America, her many sisters gathered together to fold her origami cranes as a good-bye gift. The crane is an auspicious creature in Japanese folklore, and it was said that if one could fold 1000 origami cranes, known collectively as a senbazuru, they would be granted one special wish. My aunts made the wish that my mother would have good health, happiness, luck in her journey to America. To this day, those cranes still live with my family. I grew up admiring their colorful wings and beaks through the large glass bowel my mother kept them in. Love was folded into each bend and curve of the paper and lives there to this day.

It is said the creation of 1000 origami cranes will grant someone one special wish.1000 Cranes Press hopes to one day grant the wish of indie authors in aiding them in their journey to bring their ideas to the world.
